The Register describes how IBM’s X-Force pentesting team broke in to the network of a major technology manufacturer within 8 hour, with the help of AI tools. Chris Thompson, global head of X-Force Red, said this particular customer is “the largest manufacturer of a key computer component in the world.”

The team had initially allocated 3 weeks for the task. Considering the expectation of security in the infrastructure of major tech companies, this seems reasonable. However AI and automation can provide significant assistance in evaluating large sets of data and different attack vectors to identify possible vulnerabilities.

Considering how much of an industry the black hat hacking has become, it is essential to be aware of the threats businesses face. Embracing the latest technology is essential to prevent data leaks and being held to ransom by professional threat actors.
